What is a LIMEX business card?

Business cards that speak from the material

In one box,
Protects 10L of water resources

LIMEX, the raw material used to make business cards, is produced using a different process than paper, so it does not require large amounts of water resources.

In addition, by using abundant limestone as the main raw material, it is possible to reduce the use of wood resources.

  • Does not get wet, smudge, or bleed

Because limestone is the main ingredient, the cards are highly water-resistant, meaning the ink won't bleed even when wet, and they don't crease easily. These business cards boast higher functionality without compromising on quality just because they are environmentally friendly.

  • Gentle on the hands

Conventional paper can have fibers sticking out from the cut surface, which can catch on fingers and cause cuts to the hand or fingers.
The resin contained in LIMEX covers part of the cross section, making it difficult to cut and giving it a soft feel.

  • Globally recognized design

It won the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2018, one of the world's three major design awards.
In addition, it was selected as one of the 100 most outstanding designs among the 4,495 designs submitted for the 2017 Good Design Award, and was awarded the Good Design Special Award for Manufacturing.

  • Implemented in over 4,500 companies

It has been adopted by companies such as Mercari, Yahoo!, and Sumitomo Life, which are actively working towards the SDGs. The number of companies adopting it is currently increasing at an astonishing pace.

The carefully selected material, LIMEX

LIMEX is a next-generation material developed by TBM as an alternative to paper and plastic. TBM obtained a domestic patent for "LIMEX" in 2014, and the basic patent has been registered in over 40 countries, including Japan, China, Europe, and the United States.

The main raw material, limestone, is a resource that Japan is 100% self-sufficient in. It is no exaggeration to say that it is virtually inexhaustible, as there are abundant reserves around the world and it can be recycled efficiently.
The manufacturing process uses very little wood or water, which not only helps conserve the Earth's limited resources but also reduces carbon dioxide emissions over the product's life cycle.

  • External environment 01

By 2050, approximately 51%*1 of the world's population may be at high risk of water shortages.

  • External environment 02

Compared to 2015, global paper consumption is expected to increase by approximately 1.3 times in 2030 and approximately 1.7 times in 2050. *2

  • Environmental Contribution

・By changing 100 business cards from paper to LIMEX, water usage during manufacturing can be reduced by approximately 10 liters.
-Compared to paper, no wood pulp is used in its production and almost no water is required.
    - Because paper substitute products can be produced using almost no water or forests, they are less subject to geographical or locational constraints during production.
